Museum Receives Gift from the Stemmons Foundation

The Stemmons Foundation has graciously contributed $50,000 toward the Museum’s construction and relocation project in Frisco. “We are delighted to be able to help in the creation of the Museum of the American Railroad and support its exciting project in Frisco,” said Mary Lee Virden, the Foundation’s Manager.
The Museum received a check from the foundation in the amount of $25,000, along with a pledge for an additional $25,000 in 2012.

The Stemmons Foundation was established in 1963. Among the many contributions to charitable organizations in Dallas, the foundation has a strong history of support for cultural and educational institutions. The Stemmons family has a legacy of many accomplishments that have contributed to the growth and prosperity of Dallas. John M. Stemmons, through the foundation and his civic leadership, continued the work of his father, Leslie A. Stemmons, an influential businessman in early Dallas.

The Museum is very grateful to the Stemmons Foundation for its endorsement and support of its construction and relocation project in Frisco, Texas.

About the Museum of the American Railroad
Founded in 1963, the Museum of the American Railroad is a not-for-profit Texas corporation dedicated to celebrating the heritage and exploring the future of railroads through historic preservation, research, and educational programming. The museum has collected artifacts and archival material from the railroad industry to exhibit and interpret their significance in American life and culture. Exhibits and general programs are provided year-round. Educational programs are available to local schools and universities through study trips, in-class programming & outreach, and online resources.
